A sci-fi platformer set in futuristic 2010, as a cybernetically-enhanced fighter sets out to defeat a number of mutated superhuman criminals throughout the galaxy. It's notable for its attempted Capcom USA tie-in with the 1987 fighting game Street Fighter.
Street Fighter 2010: The Final Fight (known in Japan as 2010: Street Fighter) is a sci-fi side-scrolling action platformer developed and published by Capcom for the Nintendo Entertainment System in August 8, 1990 (in Japan) and September 1990 (in North America).
Set in futuristic 2010, players control a cybernetically-enhanced fighter as they fight a variety of interplanetary superhuman criminals. Both Japanese and overseas versions feature different stories, as Capcom USA wanted to tie the game with the 1987 fighting game Street Fighter. Despite the name, it is non-canon with the Street Fighter series.
In the Japanese version, the protagonist is Kevin Striker: a cyborg police officer sent to neutralize the criminals known as "Parasites" (due to an armored parasitic insect that was implanted in their bodies). In the overseas version, the protagonist is Ken: a former martial arts champion and gifted scientist who implants his body with bionics after finding his lab partner Troy murdered (involving their new breakthrough substance "cyboplasm", which grants superhuman strength to anything it is administered to).
