A role-playing game in the Record of Lodoss War series. It saw an English fan translation in 2001.
Lodoss Tou Senki ("Record of Lodoss War") is a 1995 SRPG in the long-running novel and video game franchise Record of Lodoss War, a novel series that began as a "replay" series of accounts of adventures the author and his friends had in the world of Forcelia as part of a long-term D&D game. The actions and events of the group were later adapted into written fiction, and would also see manga, anime and video game adaptations such as this one.
The game is a strategy RPG, with the player moving characters around on a grid in order to attack enemy forces. While in the attack animation, the game switches to an isometric perspective of the field and the characters, similar to the SRPG Ogre Battle: The March of the Black Queen and Capcom's Breath of Fire games.
Lodoss Tou Senki features four distinct scenarios, each with a different protagonist and story: the first follows Karla the Grey Witch, who has the power to possess any body that wears her circlet and frequently jumps into new bodies as her scenario progresses; the second follows the warrior Beld, who carries a powerful but cursed weapon that is slowly draining his lifeforce; the third follows Fahn, an honorable knight who seeks a holy sword, shield and armor set; and the fourth and final scenario sees Parn, the hero of the original novels, setting out to defeat Karla and end her machinations once and for all. The first three scenarios occur just after the legendary battle of the Six Heroes against the Demon God, which in the series chronology happened 30 years before the events of the first book. The fourth occurs closer to the present.
