As the title states, the gameplay consists of coloring different dinosaurs. Unlike programs such as MS Paint, however, the only coloring option available is to fill in an entire area with a pattern, instead of manually doing it yourself.
Color a Dinosaur is a digital coloring book for the NES. First the player chooses one of sixteen different coloring pages, then color it in by choosing from a number of different colors and patterns.
Color a Dinosaur features four different palette to choose from, each with ten different colors, including the anatomically accurate flashing purple and cyan checkerboard color.
Due to the NES's rather slow CPU speed, color fills are often very slow.
