Mezase! Top Pro: Green ni Kakeru Yume (めざせ!トップ プロ グリーンに賭ける夢) is a golf game which supports several different modes of play:

  • Stroke Play - 1-2 player mode where you aim to earn the best score
  • Match Play - a 2-player competition mode on 18 holes
  • Challenge Mode - a single-player tournament mode aiming to become a top pro, with last barrier being Jaleco cup
  • Training - mode where player can select any course and train without pressure of competing against anyone

Shooting is done using 3rd-person back camera where the power meter bar is displayed and you have to press the button to start and end to swing and hit the ball. The ball camera is then done using top-down perspective showing the entire hole with the side bar displaying your current score, remaining distance to the hole, wind info and the club you're using. Your caddy will occasionally give you advices between your swings. The camera turns entirely top-down when you are on the green, zooming in on the green area thus providing you with more info such as the deformation of the terrain.
