Winter Gold Super Nintendo
Europe-exclusive winter sports game and the last SNES title to use the Super FX chip.
Winter Gold is a winter sports game for the SNES that offers six different events often featured in the Winter Olympics. It was released exclusively in Europe for the SNES and was the last game for the console to utilize the SNES's Super FX chip, which could render 3D graphics on the system's hardware.
The game itself is not based on any particular Winter Olympics games - its 1996 release places it directly between two events - but instead presents three different venues players can choose from: Albertville, France (the setting for the 1992 Winter Olympics); Lillehammer, Norway (the setting for the 1994 Winter Olympics); and Salt Lake City, USA (the eventual setting for the 2002 Winter Olympics, and first runner-up for the 1998 Winter Olympics, which eventually went to Nagano, Japan).
The six events include: slalom, snowboard halfpipe, normal hill ski jump, large hill ski jump, bobsleigh, and luge.
