The sequel to the original NES game Top Gun. Maverick is called back to take on a powerful new enemy jet fighter.
Top Gun: The Second Mission, known in Japan as Top Gun: Dual Fighters, is the sequel to the movie licensed game Top Gun. Like the first, it uses a first-person dogfighting perspective where players shoot down waves of enemy crafts and evade their incoming missiles with barrel rolls. In the story of this game, Maverick is given an emergency mission to destroy high-tech weaponry used by the enemy forces. This usually amounts to fighting a difficult boss vehicle at the end of each stage.
Minor improvements to the gameplay systems made the game significantly easier to play, in particular the infamous "landing on the aircraft carrier" conclusion to each mission.
