Tecmo Super Bowl III: Final Edition is an enhanced sequel in the Tecmo Bowl series and presently the last. It was released for the SNES and Sega Genesis in late 1995 in time for the 1996 NFL football season.

All 30 NFL teams and their rosters are included in the game, and a new free agency system allows the player to put together their own personal league. The game's updated graphics and player photos were well-received by critics. Complete stats, audibles, and tournament-style play add to the game's realism, while the addition of Passing and Superstar modes helped invigorate the aging Tecmo Super Bowl series. The player calls all of the plays, changing defensive formations and offensive line-ups to match the opponents' moves.

The game also features player injuries. Occasionally, a player will be injured, and will have to sit out a game or two. While the game does not have any method of classifying the injuries, or how long they will affect the player, it was still a step towards the more realistic football simulations of the present day.
