Japan-exclusive game released in 1995 for the Super Famicom. Sequel to Super Air Diver (known as Lock On in the US).
Super Air Diver 2 is a dogfight simulator with mild strategy elements that was released exclusively for the Japanese Super Famicom. It is the sequel to the original Super Air Diver, best known in North America as Lock On. The game makes copious use of Mode 7 to represent the horizon and landscape beneath the jets, inclining whenever the player performs a loop-the-loop or takes off.
When starting missions, the player selects their destination on a grid, moving towards critical ground targets and enemy jet formations. When either is encountered, the game switches to its core dogfight gameplay mode and the player has to eliminate all aggressors to move on.
