Hollywood Squares is the first video game adaptation of the NBC game show of the same name. The host asks a 3x3 grid of celebrity guests various trivia questions, and players determine the veracity of the answers provided. Though the game didn't feature any actual celebrities, it did persist with the TV show's custom of having the celebs provide a corny joke answer before the real answer was given. The player could also find the secret square to earn a mystery prize, or have a chance at winning a car by guessing which of five keys would unlock it. Hollywood Squares was released on the C64 and PC in 1988, before being ported to the NES the following year. This version of the game is not to be confused with the more recent Ludia adaptation.
