A turn-based roleplaying game published for the NES in 1990.
Musashi no Bouken ("Adventures of Musashi") is a turn-based roleplaying game developed for the Nintendo Entertainment System by Quest and published by Sigma on December 22nd, 1990. The game features a young swordsman named Musashi who sets out to destroy the evil wizard Kojiro and his evil demons that are threatening to rule his land with death and destruction. Gameplay is similarly traditional with a world map, random encounters, dungeons and turn-based combat from a first-person perspective.
The game's premise, as well as its title, are loosely based on figures of Japanese history. The swordsman Musashi Miyamoto met rival swordsman Kojiro Sasaki for a duel on the shore of Ganryu Island. Rather than use his actual sword, Miyamoto is said to have carved a crude wooden sword (bokken, in Japanese, which sounds similar to "bouken", or "adventure") out of an oar while on his way to the dueling ground. He then struck Sasaki down in one blow.
