Dark Law: The Meaning of Death is a turn-based strategy RPG and the third game in Data East's loose "trilogy" of Nintendo RPGs, which also include 1991's Dark Lord and 1994's Wizap!.

The player creates their own party of four characters, allocating stats and naming them before starting the game. The game feels more like a pen-and-paper RPG adaptation as a result. The combat uses grids and an action points system, which are spent on both movement and attacking. The game's story is told in vignettes, called "scenarios", similar to Rudra no Hihou and Romancing SaGa.

The game was never officially localized into English, being a very late Super Famicom release, but did see a fan translation from the Aeon Genesis group in 2007.
