Michael Andretti's World GP was originally released in Japan as Nakajima Satoru: F1 Hero in 1988. Satoru Nakajima was a famous Japanese F1 racer at the time. It was licensed and released in America with a new title in 1990. It offers a selection of courses, and before a race the player gets a guided tour of the various turns on each one by Andretti/Nakajima (depending on the version). The player can also select from a number of F1 vehicles. The game was followed by the Japanese Famicom-exclusive Nakajima Satoru: F1 Hero 2 in 1991, which saw later sequels for other consoles. The North American version would be the first of many games to use Michael Andretti's name in its title.
