Hit the Ice is a sports game (focused on ice hockey) for the Nintendo Entertainment System. Due to unknown reasons, it was never released. Though it was canceled, the Game Boy and SNES versions were released.
There are five game modes: 1P Quest puts the player in the campaign mode, building up the team and playing all the other teams on the World Map; 1P vs. Comp is an exhibition game in which Player 1 faces a computer-controlled team; 1P vs. 2P pits the two players against each other; 1P2P vs. Comp puts Players 1 and 2 on the same team to play against the computer; and 1P2P vs. 3P4P allows 4 players to play a game simultaneously.
The NES Satellite or NES Four Score can be used to allow 4 players to play simultaneously.
Throughout the game, money is earned and items can be purchased that can be used to help the player along the Quest campaign, similar to a role-playing game.
As in the real-world sport of hockey, the object is to score more goals than the opposing team to win the game
