@nietzsche666 hi, the correct entry would be NOCACHE as i think whdload is case sensitive. but anyway it still crashes on the joystick picture during the intro. with or without NOCACHE flag. i also tried the NOCACHE on my real amiga 4000/040 and it still hangs at the same picture. tho i am still able to quit whdload with the quitkey.
so at least it is not an emulation only issue,
Hi, someone at the whdload mantis replied about this.
His a1260 has no problems with the highscore.
He asked me to try NoCache WHDLoad option.
Not an expert on configuring Whdload with FS-UAE, but my guess was just adding it within the WHDLoad argument in FS UAE, looking like this. SwordOfSodan.slave NOCACHE PRELOAD
Now, this didn't change crap about the reported bug, neither on A600 nor A1200 preset, but if I'm doing the NoCache argument wrong, please correct me. Psygore was fine with maybe updating the slave, which is great, but I don't want to provide wrong information.
@niezsche666 for whdload slave issues the whdload devs have a bugtracker:
http://mantis.whdload.de/my_view_page.php
maybe tryout to file a buig there and with a bit luck one of the few remaining active devs take care of the issue.

Thanks a lot for looking into this. Maybe the sound problems have something to do with weird Realtek sound driver problems of my PC. I'm back at my (better) alternative system soon and will check out if I have still any problems there.
Ah, so the WHDload vs. was at fault right from the start concerning the crash issue. Would be great if some of those guys will do a 1.1 at some time (1.0 was made in 1998, jeez!). In the info text the author wrote something implying highscores could usually be saved (if you don't use the trainer), so it's clearly unintentional.
I think for the original "level skip" cheats you had to enter the highscore screen, so it would be great if a fix would show up at some time.
@nietzsche666 : for me the sound runs just fine in the mentioned part of the intro. no crackle/no slowdown with the default a1200 model. maybe a performance issue of your rmachine ?
the rest i can confirm. but the whdload slave is almost 20 years old and the freeze issue can only be fixed by the whdload slave author. nothing frode can do about it .

WHDload vs.
Using default config, I experience several problems: Music in the second intro screen (fog clouds moving to the left) slows down and annoyingly crackles severely.
I was able to reduce the sound problems by going to A600/a500+ presets, but still not completely get rid of them.
Furthermore, the highscore screen seems to be broken in that version, causing the game to freeze dead. When waiting in the intro until after the joystick instructions or after "Game Over", when the "demon insects" should present the highscore numbers, the game just crashes, nothing happens, no way to continue.
None of the settings seemed to change that. Using Quartex adf, highscore system loaded fine & demo was started. Had some sound problems, too, though. By changing buffer to 100 it seems to have been reduced to a slight crackle here and there.
Till a fix for the WHDload file arrives, I'll stay with the QTX adf vs. Notice that the game itself does work in whdload vs, at least in the first levels. Still, because of the game over crash, you'll have to hard reset the game every time you loose your last life.
I have run the TOSEC importer against the latest DAT, three new corrected variants imported

that also explains why the diskchange to disk 2 isnt recognized by the game
