this is kinda a sierra tradition. they always have some required infos hidden in their manuals or other goodies from the box.

Have listed the IPF protection as "none". But this game follows actual Police procedures of the time very closely, so I doubt anyone could completed this game (any version) without the manual or walkthrough.
