"Fictional Medievil" suits games like Golden Axe. I agree with TCD that "medievil" alone decribes games with a historical setting, e.g. Joan of Arc.

Let's see what Frode thinks about this smiley We had a similar discussion about 'shootemup' as to where the scope of it starts and ends. In the end it comes down to definition if 'medieval' is a general setting or means historically correct (more or less). There's of course no right or wrong here, but a way to categorise games. A 'strategy, medieval' search would differ from a 'strategy, fantasy' one in my case, while in your case there would be games in both. Both way have pros and cons and it's mainly down to how the system to find similar games should be handled in the end smiley

@TheCyberDruid I see your point. I am thinking of the tags in a netflix way. (Netflix uses the tags to recommed simliar movies) Fantasy can exist in any time period, be it medieval times, modern day, or prehistoric times. So I guess something like heroicfantasy could be done. Or perhaps @FrodeSolheim could add in multi tag search. so you could search for medieval + folklore, or medieval + historic. That way we can still use the medieval tag to describe a games time period feel? Personally I think the more tags we have the better as it will allow users to discover more games. But I guess it will take a while to decide on all the tags we should use.

@thundercato I agree to dissagree here wink I'd like to search for games that are historically set in the middle ages by the tag 'medieval'. We could use 'heroicfantasy' instead for those games if you prefer. In the end Frode has to decide of course, but a tag should group similar games and that criteria isn't matched here (Gauntlet II and Golden Axe have a quite different setting to Iron Lord or Defender of the Crown).

@TheCyberDruid medieval refers to a time period, and fantasy to a genre. Although technically Golden Axe does not have a time (i.e. year it was set) it has the feel of medieval times. So I put the tag in so people can search for games that have the same feel (i.e. http://oagd.net/browse/medieval ). would you mind putting medieval back in all the games you just removed them from smiley

@thundercato 'fantasy' and 'medieval' are two different things smiley Fantasy is fictional and medieval is based on the middle age. Defender of the Crown and Robin Hood are examples for 'medieval' games, while this one or Gauntlet are examples for 'fantasy' games.

Thanks nexusle. Every day is a school day :O)

No Problem! Most problems with games and GURU are related to not enough RAM or errors in Kickstart. So before we change to AGA platform, we should test with other options to raise the RAM amount or change the Kickstart version. To emulate an A1200 cycle exact there is needed a much stronger host computer, as Frode said weeks before.

Thanks nexusle, everything working fine now, good job! :O)

TODO: Please test the last variant also. Have changed kickstart to 2.0+ and for me it works. Note: The game does a restart. This should be normal. After this restart the game loads fine. 2nd note: The disk starts to workbench and show you a disk/programm icon. Don't double click on the game icon. The game is also started by startup-sequence.

"ADF, cr Genesis - Angels - Defjam, f AGA-WB HMN - VTY, t +9 HMN - VTY", and "ADF, cr Genesis - Angels - Defjam, f AGA-WB HMN - VTY, t +9 HMN - VTY, a" work fine. Although in Amiga DOS it does say "You haven't got the ECS 1Mb Agnus, so run out and buy one !" lol "ADF, cr Genesis - Angels - Defjam, f AGA-WB HMN - VTY, h Quarterback, t +9 HMN - VTY" still has the same problem, it won't start, keeps on getting a Guru Meditation error. As for the 'WB' in the variant name, my guess is that although they can boot themselves they have been cracked to be HD installable, which the original versions were not.

TODO: @thundercato: I have changed your settings and inserted only 1MB of fast memory. Please can you test the variants again now?

Posted by nexusle at 2013-01-18 08:24:28:

Ok, thanks for testing again!

Posted by thundercato at 2013-01-18 08:23:09:

The version that needs WB just seems to lock up on the start screen. And I set the kickstart to 3.0+ as when booted from a A500/A600 the game does not load and the machine just keeps resetting. It seems to need an AGA chipset to actually boot.

Posted by nexusle at 2013-01-18 05:53:26:

TODO: @thundercato: Why you set AGA and Kickstart 3.0+ for some variants? The "f AGA" in the name only indicates, that this game is patched to work on AGA machines. In the most cases they don't need a AGA machine. Please can you test this variant as they work on standard settings please? If they work, please set back your changes.

Posted by nexusle at 2013-01-18 03:35:42:

This versions needs Workbench. This ia indicated by the "WB" in name

Variants "ADF, cr Genesis - Angels - Defjam, f AGA-WB HMN - VTY" and "ADF, cr Genesis - Angels - Defjam, f AGA-WB HMN - VTY, t +9 HMN - VTY", get to the title screen and don't start? Have marked as Bad.

Removed the black lines top and bottom. Also took the opportunity to improve the second screen.
