Lee Trevino's Fighting Golf, or simply Fighting Golf in Japan, is a golfing game released for the Arcade and Nintendo Entertainment System in 1988. It features two courses and a selection of different golfers for players to choose from. The North America and European versions of the game features the name and likeness of Lee Trevino, the American champion pro-golfer. The game would become the inspiration for the fictional video game Lee Carvallo's Putting Challenge from The Simpsons. The player has the choice between four golfers, each of which has different strengths and weaknesses. Lee Trevino himself is playable, and goes by the name of 'Super Mex'. The other three playable characters include: Pretty Amy, Miracle Chosuke, and Big Jumbo. The Japanese version has the character "Birdie Tommy" instead of Super Mex/Lee Trevino. Gameplay is in line with other golf games of the time, with players selecting shot type and shot power using a simplistic meter. Players may choose from two separate courses: United States, and Japan. While the former consists of mostly bunkers and sand traps, the latter is comprised of mostly water hazards and tight spaces.
